Tika uses Commons Compress
Friday, July 31st, 2009It just came in with a newsletter: Tika 0.4 is using Commons Compress from now on. Thats really great! It’s the first big app I know which is using Commons Compress. Hopefully that motivates me to get back bugfixing Compress in near future

Invitation as a Apache Commons Comitter
Friday, March 27th, 2009I was working for the Apache Commons project for a long time, esspecially on for the Compress component. It was a sandbox component, but meanwhile became community. Several other guys started to commit and develope here and I was very proud that I got this ball rolling. Meanwhile the component becomes better and better and people speak about the first release.
And finally it happened that the Apache guys invited me to become an Apache Commons comitter. YES of course, thanks, I will take the honour! It should happen in a few days that my user account is created. Then I am able to commit my own changes, and this is cool.
I have learned lots of the other Apache guys and strongly believe that this chance will bring me to the next level of my personal development. And, last but not least, it will bring me lots of fun!
